Hey everyone! With apologies for taking longer than usual to get these up, I'm excited to show you this new collection from Shiro Cosmetics! The New Leaf Trio is inspired by the game Animal Crossing. My only experience with the game is reading creepypasta about it on the internet, so I can't speak to the inspiration. I can, however, giggle at the most excellent puns in each shade's name.
As Kristin has said in our recent swatch posts, we're still experimenting with our collage format, so do let us know if you have any feedback!
Disclosure note: These samples were kindly provided by the brand for review.
Let's take a look!

From the website: A color for Reese, the mistress of Re-Tail! Just don’t turnip your music too loud or you’ll bother Cy-guy.
Soft pinky-red highlight with an extra level of pink shimmer. Like a strawberry layer cake.
Ingredients: mica, carnauba wax, titanium dioxide, iron oxide, tin oxide. Lip-safe!
Personal Comments: Alpaca Picnic might be a good "starter red" for anyone who's nervous about trying red eyeshadow for the first time. The pink tones and moderate pigmentation should make this much more approachable than a full-on red. Conversely, anyone who likes their eyeshadow bold may find this shade a little too delicate for their tastes. Either way, it performs perfectly. I love the lightly metallic finish, and I'm thinking this will make a gorgeous blush or custom gloss in addition to a beautiful eyeshadow!
From left to right, swatches were: swiped over bare skin, patted over Urban Decay Primer Potion, and patted over UDPP and Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy. Bottom photo taken in partial sunlight, upper right photo taken of Pixie Epoxy swatch under daylight bulbs.

From the website: Good morning, Mayor! A color for sweet Isabelle, who just wants to be helpful.
Dreamy pastel yellow-orange creamsicle base with soft golden shimmer. Almost neutral, but not quite!
Ingredients: mica, carnauba wax, titanium dioxide, iron oxide, tin oxide, zinc oxide, magnesium myristrate, yellow #5. Lip-safe!
Personal Comments: "Pastel creamsicle" and "Almost neutral, but not quite" are perfect ways to describe this color. I was pleasantly surprised to find a light smattering of red sparkles running through this in a way that reminded me a bit of (sadly discontinued) The Red Viper, one of my absolute favorite Shiro colors. I wouldn't recommend buying the shade just for the red sparkles because they really are quite subtle, but it was a fun discovery. The finish is somewhere between a matte and a satin, I believe, depending on how you apply it. It makes for a great brightening lid shade on my NC15 skin tone.

From the website: A color for Mr. Tom, who nook all your bells! But it’s all for the good of home improvement, yes, yes.
Bright springy mint green with a cool shift, like the shivers up your spine when you hear your remaining balance.
Ingredients: mica, carnauba wax, titanium dioxide, iron oxide, tin oxide, chromium oxide, magnesium myristrate, yellow #5, ferric ferrocyanide, ultramarines, zinc oxide. Not lip-safe.
Personal Comments: This shade is very fun and has the most interesting overlay of the trio; icy blue sparkles come out under bright lights. It's also quite sheer, so be prepared to spend some time building it up (or apply it wet/over a sticky base) if you want it fully opaque. I believe it took two or three layers to get it to the opacity you see in the eye look below. Nothing wrong with that so long as you know what to expect!

I did an eye look using just these three shades. Apparently I'm addicted to the yellow lid + red crease look! Here's how it turned out:
This is Canine Help You? packed on the lid over Pixie Epoxy, Alpaca Picnic blended through the crease with a fluffy brush, and Forever A Loan applied over Pixie Epoxy in the inner corner. All performed beautifully, but it's quite apparent that this trio has lower pigmentation than many of Shiro's other products, which may be a pro or a con depending on your personal tastes. If you like soft pastels, though, this collection's for you!
Sanaa from The Enchanted Bladesmith asked for a comparison between Forever A Loan and a couple other green Shiro shades, which I posted on my Instagram and will share here. From top to bottom: Hero of Ages, Forever A Loan, There and Back Again. Left half done over UDPP and Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy, right side just over UDPP. Here's partial sunlight to get the most accurate colors:
So there's the collection! What do you think of these soft shades? Is Animal Crossing worth a play through?
