Hey everyone! I'm very excited to show you the October limited edition shades from Shiro Cosmetics and Detrivore Cosmetics! We got a bonus shadow from Shiro this month, which I'll tell you all about below. Let's start with the Shiro shades! A quick disclosure note - the Shiro team kindly included Ghost of Colors Past as a free bonus with my order.

From the website: October’s Color of the Month is Sweater Weather, inspired by cozy rainy days.

Velvety purple-taupe with strong golden duochrome. Suggestion by Avery M.!

Ingredients: mica, carnauba wax, titanium dioxide, iron oxide, tin oxide, ultramarines. Not lip safe.

Personal Comments: You guys, this shade is way too pretty. To my eyes, it's exactly as the Shiro team describes it - a rich, grayed out cool-toned purple with a strong gold duochrome. The label art is a coffee mug wearing a sweater. I highly recommend picking one of these up before it's gone!

From the website: This is the grand mishmash blend of every bit of leftover color from the July 2013 – June 2014 Colors of the Month! It is a pleasant, neutral brown with every possible manner of sparkle. May or may not contain sentimentality and/or bits of Leo DiCaprio’s soul. <3

Ingredients: Everything! Not lip-safe.

Personal Comments: I'm really entertained by Shiro's yearly mishmash of all their leftover colors from the past year. Normally I skip these (they sell out like hotcakes and I don't want to tease you with unobtainable colors), but Caitlin let me know the team had extras of this shade this year, so here it is! As I'm writing this post, there are 166 of these jars left, so do consider making an order soon if you're interested. This is a mellow cocoa brown that leans a little on the warm side of neutral, I believe. Despite how many different colors of sparkles surely went into it, the main effect I see is a silver shimmery overlay on the base shade.

Take a close look at the label - the ghosts hovering above the graveyard have faces! The one on the left is Captain Malcolm Reynolds, featured on sadly discontinued Butts v. Malcolm Reynolds. The ghost in the center is the walrus from Plausible Walrus (May's Color of the Month). I have to admit, though, I can't figure out who the ghost on the right is. If you've figured out who it is, let me know in the comments! This shade is available while supplies last - check the listing for the number of remaining jars.

From the website: Vegan, Lip Safe

Cool, soft black with silver flecks.

Ingredients: serecite mica, iron oxide, titanium dioxide, tin oxide.

Personal Comments: I see a soft charcoal gray with silver sparkles in it. When I swatched this shade, the first thing I thought was that it would fit in perfectly with the Daedric Princes collection (reviewed here) which had several grays in this vein. Cremains appears to be just a shade or two darker than that collection's Vaermina and is a little more opaque, but they're quite close. Like pretty much every Detrivore shade, the formula is beautifully soft. This shade is available while supplies last - check the listing for the number of remaining jars.

From the website: Vegan, Not Lip Safe

Matte dirty chartreuse.

Ingredients: serecite mica, magnesium myristrate, iron oxide, carnauba wax, chromium oxide, titanium dioxide.

Personal Comments: The site description of "matte dirty chartreuse" is perfect. This shade is so much fun and the formula is as great as I've come to expect from Detrivore. I suspect I'll be trying this out as a liner shade - I think it'll look really great against my brown eyes. Even though most of Detrivore's mattes perform beautifully over a sticky base, this one actually went a little patchy over Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy. This is normal for most mattes, so don't panic! The macro shade turned a little light here but the full sized swatch looks color accurate to my eyes. This shade is available while supplies last - check the listing for the number of remaining jars.

Once again, I think Distorria and the Shiro team have knocked it out of the park this month! As I noted for each of these, all the shadows in this post are limited edition, so make sure to scoop them up soon if they catch your eye. Happy October everyone!

  1. Hmmm.. I think the mystery face may be Loki's from Up All Night to Get Loki. I may or may not have opened multiple tabs to compare labels LOL.
