Savor is a San Francisco-based soap company run by a husband and wife team, Lisa and Mike--check out this Etsy interview for more background about Savor and its origin story. I decided to place an order at their Etsy store when they ran a coupon code promotion: Apricot Creme Olive Oil Soap with Shea Butter, and a mini Lychee Rose Creme Fraiche Whipped Soap (not currently listed, but they do have a Red Lychee Bubble Tea scent that I imagine is similar).
Packaging: The packaging is sturdy, and pretty, in a traditionally girly, feminine way--flowers, butterflies, curlicues, a vaguely Victorian font. My package came wrapped in tissue paper with a nasturtium-adorned notecard attached to it with yarn, and the items inside were plastic-wrapped and safety-sealed.

Savor specializes in soaps, but their bar soap selection (17 listings) is dwarfed by their selection of whipped soap in jars (45 listings). Check out the seasonal soap listings as well.

Samples:
I received a small Berry Fizz soap slice in a baggie as a free sample with my purchase. Sample sizes of body butters, whipped soap, and body mist are all available for purchase.
Quality:
I like the products I got from Savor, but to be honest, I haven't been blown away by the quality. It's fine, though the bar soap is not as strongly scented as I'd like, and it's a clear glycerin soap with that excessively slippery feel that I dislike in soaps, but I'm sure is preferred by many people. It smells nice, does its job, and doesn't leave me feeling dry or sticky.
The whipped soap is cool, though not especially whipped-feeling--it feels like Play-Doh, extremely dense and pliable, with sparsely distributed scrubby granules in it that might be sugar or salt. It feels almost like someone took a cup of Play-Doh and mixed in about a teaspoon of sugar. It feels moisturizing and rinses clean.
You can see the texture of the Creme Fraiche in this photo--surprisingly dense! |
Cost:
Pricing seems generally fair, and a good deal with a coupon code--$5.50 for a 4 oz bar of soap, $10 for an 8 oz jar of Creme Fraiche--the samples of Creme Fraiche are a bit steep in comparison at $4.50 for 2 oz, but given the packaging, there's probably a base material cost that wouldn't allow it to be sold for much cheaper than that.
Customer Service:
I have not had to contact Savor about any problems. The only means of contact seems to be an email address or the Etsy messaging system.
TAT:
Turnaround time is listed in the shop policies. As of this writing, it is listed at two to three business days. This is consistent with my experience (shipping notification arrived two days after I purchased my items on Etsy).
Shipping:
There is an Etsy shipping calculator--I checked this out with my US zip code and came up with shipping costs of $2.50 for a bar of soap, $3.50 for a small whipped soap jar, or $5.95 for a large whipped soap jar.

Personal Thoughts:
I love it when indie companies have quick turnaround times even after posting sales! It's always nice to order from a previously untried company and have a positive, professional experience. I like the variety of scents Savor offers (Coconut Mochi sounds divine! And Pistachio and Rosewater is incredibly tempting even though I usually don't much like nutty scents!) and I think their packaging lends themselves especially well to gifting.
However, as I mentioned in the Quality section above, I wasn't a huge fan of the bar soap; I think I'd probably order the whipped soap again, but not the glycerin bar soap, unless I was getting it as a gift for someone. For instance, the intricately molded Jade Shea Butter Soap is one of the prettiest soaps I've ever seen and would make an excellent housewarming present or stocking stuffer.
