Hey everyone! Today I'm excited to show you the September limited edition shades from Shiro Cosmetics and Detrivore Cosmetics. The colors are all lovely, and a portion of the Shiro Color of the Month goes to a good cause. Let's check out these shadows!

From the website: Sure, it’s kind of an unnecessarily long product name and the breakdown of intergalactic political factions in the second paragraph was not entirely necessary, but you guys voted for this name/color and it is pretty. Fortunately I think I’ve found a way to fit it all on the label.

Woody brown with complex gold/copper highlights and a strong green shift. Suggestion by Christine K.!

For every jar of I Am Groot sold during the month of September, $1 will be donated to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.

Ingredients: mica, carnauba wax, titanium dioxide, iron oxide, tin oxide. Lip-safe!

Personal Comments: Shiro's Color of the Month for September 2014 is based on the character Groot from Guardians of the Galaxy. Before I describe the product, I want to commend the Shiro team for donating to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. I'd never heard of this organization before, but I like what I see on Charity Navigator and I'm happy a part of my purchase is going to such a good cause. You rock, Shiro!

This is a lovely, complex shade. "Woody brown" is indeed a great way to describe the base - it's a subdued mid-toned brown that appears to have a little bit of gray added to it. It's got a beautiful, strong olive gold overlay covering it, and the overlay can appear lightly metallic depending on the lighting and application. In certain bright indoor lights, the overlay transforms into an explosion of red, green, and gold glitter, but I could only find one spot in my apartment where this happened, so you will likely see the satin/metallic overlay in the majority of lighting types. It's a bit finicky, in that the base shade will become a little more or less prominent depending on whether you pat or buff it onto your skin.

Over bare skin, the olive gold overlay is most prominent, though you can see a bit of the brown base. Over a silicone primer (I used Urban Decay Primer Potion), the shade darkens and the brown base becomes more dominant. Over silicone primer and a sticky base (I used UDPP and Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy), the shade is at its darkest and most complex.

From the website: Vegan, Not Lip Safe

Deep charcoal with fine silver shimmer.

Ingredients: serecite mica, magnesium myristrate, titanium dioxide, iron oxide, tin oxide, aluminum powder, silicon dioxide, calcium aluminum borosilicate.

Personal Comments: The site description for Luna is perfect - it is indeed a deep matte charcoal base with a moderate amount of fine silver shimmer running through it. This would fit in perfectly with Detrivore's Daedric Princes collection.

From the website: Vegan, Lip Safe

Warm pumpkin orange with the barest hint of shimmer and sparkle.

Ingredients: serecite mica, iron oxide, titanium dioxide, tin oxide, calcium aluminum borosilicate, silicon dioxide.

Personal Comments: As the site description says, this is a beautiful pumpkin orange just in time for fall. Like so many of Detrivore's matte colors, this has a slightly muted quality to it, which I suspect comes from a white base. It has a small amount of tiny gold sparkles scattered through it.
