Hi everyone! I'm very excited to show you the new eyeshadows released just a couple of days ago by Shiro Cosmetics. One is the highly anticipated Color of the Month for May 2014, and the other is a limited edition shade to celebrate their fourth anniversary!
I want to pause and thank my fellow blogger Kristin for these amazing swatch photos. She has done the majority of the gorgeous eyeshadow swatches you'll see in our flickr swatch gallery, and I'm grateful she agreed to photograph these as well!
I also want to note that I don't yet have the stickers for these colors (which is usually half the fun of the new colors) but I'll update this post with photos as soon as they arrive! I suspect you can also spy the artwork on the product pages on the Shiro website.

Swatch done over Urban Decay Primer Potion and Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy, photos taken outside in natural light.
From the website: A bright summery color for Jaime Hyneman’s most adorably walrusey face!
Bright poppy-pink with a violet shift. Lip-safe!
Ingredients: mica, carnauba wax, titanium dioxide, iron oxide, tin oxide, yellow #5.
Personal comments: This is the May 2014 Color of the Month! This color has a strong shine to it. Even in dim indoor lighting, this shade catches any available light and looks pretty reflective. At an angle I can see what appears to be a slight fuchsia shift, but it's not very strong. It also seems to have tiny gold shimmer particles in it. To my eyes, it's less orange and more pink than you see in the swatch photo.
For those of you who are confused about the name, a bit of backstory - for April Fools Day, Shiro plastered their website in walrus photos. It was a very cute joke, and it was also a convenient cover while they finished preparing to launch their gorgeous new website. After the walruses came down, I noticed a lot of chatter in makeup forums wondering why voting for the new Color of the Month hadn't been posted as normal. Turns out Caitlin and her team had been plotting this color and name as a fabulous callback to their well-received walrus joke!

From the website: A color created in celebration of Shiro’s fourth anniversary, and also bad Star Wars puns! Featuring art by my friend Matthew, who was kind enough to only snort a little bit when I told him what I wanted.
Vivid, strangely metallic limey lightsaber green. Not lip-safe.
**In celebration of our anniversary, you can have this color for free with a $15+ purchase! Enter the code “thefourth” at checkout, and we will add a jar of this color to every order subtotaling (before coupon and shipping) $15 or greater. Offer expires Friday May 2 at 11:59 PM PST.**
Ingredients: mica, carnauba wax, titanium dioxide, iron oxide, tin oxide, chromium oxide.
Personal comments: This is an awesome acid green shadow! Like Plausible Walrus, it shines beautifully without being fully metallic. To my eyes, it's a little less yellow than you see in the swatch photo. Lovers of brights, this one's for you!
Happy fourth birthday, Shiro Cosmetics!
