Life is a Game is innocent + twisted alchemy's extensive, 18 eyeshadow collection based on the cult-hit Japanese movie, Battle Royale.

Battle Royale was initially a book which was turned into a manga before it made it to the big screen. The basic premise is that in Japan, a random group of students is taken to an island and forced to battle to the last one standing. If they refuse to participate, a bomb collared around their throat explodes.

When the Hunger Games came out recently, many compared it to Battle Royale though the author has said that she'd never seen Battle Royale before people started comparing her series to it.

So based on that synopsis and comparison, you can expect the movie to be very bloody and very violent.

I was surprised to see so many light shades in this eyeshadow collection. I had been expecting mostly dark-tones and vivid reds - where are still there - but as a whole, the collection definitely isn't as DARK as I'd been expecting. This isn't a bad thing, it was just a personal surprise.

There are some really great, complex shades in here. Sweet Pandemonium is one of my all-time ITA favorites. Sadly, the collection is Limited Edition and a few of the shades have already sold out.

Since this collection is so large, individual swatches will be divided into three posts. The first batch is after the jump!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

From the website: Anger Management is a magenta with a purple sheen with gold and aqua shimmers

Eye Shadow Ingredients: Mica (77019, 12001-26-2), Titanium Dioxide (77891, 13463-67-7), Carmine (75470, 1309-65-4), Iron Oxide (77491, 1332-37-2), Tin Oxide (778161, 18282-10-5), Silica (7631-86-9), Calcium Aluminum Borosilicate (65997-17-3), Magnesium Myristrate, Zinc Oxide, Carnauba Wax

** ALL SAFE! NOT VEGAN!**

Personal Comments: This is one of those bright, bold reds that I was expecting from the rest of the collection. More of a hot pink in direct light but the red tone is stronger in shadow. Applied over Urban Decay Primer Potion and Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy. This picture was taken outside in natural light.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

From the website: Danger Zones is a forest green that has a coppery sheen and has an explosion of red shimmer and rainbow sparkles

Eye Shadow Ingredients: Mica (77019, 12001-26-2), Titanium Dioxide (77891, 13463-67-7), Chromium Oxide Green (77288, 1308-38-9), Iron Oxide (77491, 77499, 1309-37-1, 1309-38-2, 1317-61-9), Ferric Ferrocyanide (77510, 14038-43-8), Tin Oxide (778161, 18282-10-5), Silica (7631-86-9), Polyethylene Terephalate, Zinc Oxide, Magnesium Myristrate, Carnauba Wax

**NOT LIP SAFE! VEGAN!**

Personal Comments: I imagine that this shade is supposed to represent the forest that they're running around in. It's a dark green shade with added red shimmer to add a very distinct color contrast. Applied over Urban Decay Primer Potion and Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy. This picture was taken outside in natural light.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

From the website: Death Partners is a sky blue with a strong yellow-green sheen

Eye Shadow Ingredients: Mica (77019, 12001-26-2), Titanium Dioxide (77891, 13463-67-7), Ultramarines; Pigment Blue 29 (77007, 57455-37-5), Chromium Oxide Green (77288, 1308-38-9), Iron Oxide (77499, 1309-38-2), Ferric Ferrocyanide (77510, 14038-43-8), Tin Oxide (778161, 18282-10-5), Calcium Aluminum Borosilicate (65997-17-3), Silica (7631-86-9), Polyethylene Terephalate, Magnesium Myristrate, Zinc Oxide, Carnauba Wax

**NOT LIP SAFE! VEGAN!*

Personal Comments: This one is an interesting one. In the swatch on the website, Death Partners is a bright turquoise-y blue but in direct light, it shows up as a muted green with a yellow shift. Applied over Urban Decay Primer Potion and Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy. This picture was taken outside in natural light.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

From the website: Don't Wanna be a Loser is blue-based pink with an explosion of green shimmer

Eye Shadow Ingredients: Mica (77019, 12001-26-2), Titanium Dioxide (77891, 13463-67-7), Ultramarines (77007, 12769-96-9), Ultramarines; Pigment Violet 15 (77007, 57455-37-5), Carmine (75470, 1309-65-4), Ferric Ferrocyanide (77510, 14038-43-8), Magnesium Myristrate, Zinc Oxide, Carnauba Wax

*NOT LIP SAFE! NOT VEGAN!*

Personal Comments: Sadly this is one of the three eyeshadows that's currently sold out. It's a pretty light pink shade with a shimmery finish. Applied over Urban Decay Primer Potion and Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy. This picture was taken outside in natural light.

Sold Out :(

From the website: Example Kills is a medium gray with a blue shift and has aqua shimmers.

Eye Shadow Ingredients: Mica (77019, 12001-26-2), Titanium Dioxide (77891, 13463-67-7), Iron Oxide (77491, 77499, 1309-37-1, 1309-38-2, 1317-61-9), Ultramarines (77007, 1317-97-1), Ferric Ferrocyanide (77510, 14038-43-8), Tin Oxide (778161, 18282-10-5), D&C Black #2 (77266, 1333-86-4), Polyester 3), Calcium Aluminum Borosilicate (65997-17-3), Silica (7631-86-9), Zinc Oxide, Magnesium Myristrate, Carnauba Wax, Polyethylene Terephalate

**NOT LIP SAFE! VEGAN!*

Personal Comments: Less blue than it shows up on the website swatch. Definitely more of a grey with a suggestion of blue. Applied over Urban Decay Primer Potion and Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy. This picture was taken outside in natural light.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

From the website: Guadacanal #22 is a silver with red shimmers

Eye Shadow Ingredients: Mica (77019, 12001-26-2), Titanium Dioxide (77891, 13463-67-7), Iron Oxide (77499, 1317-61-9), Tin Oxide (778161, 18282-10-5), Silica (7631-86-9), Calcium Aluminum Borosilicate (65997-17-3), Polyethylene Terephthalate, Magnesium Myristrate, Zinc Oxide

**ALL SAFE! VEGAN**

Personal Comments: The red notes in this shadow are very strong. It makes for a really beautifully complex look. Applied over Urban Decay Primer Potion and Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy. This picture was taken outside in natural light.

  1. Thank you for the review/spotlight :) Battle Royale is one of my favorite movies and novels (not the manga >_>; ) and I wanted to focus on the theme of friendships and trust instead of "killing each other". ^__^; I did a blogpost awhile ago about why I chose the colors/names. Sometimes, I feel I should blog more. Hehehe.

    2. Thanks for the link! That's really interesting! I've never seen the second movie so I wonder if that's why I didn't understand a few of the names (though I also missed some that I should have recognized like the collar name). I love that you created this collection in response to the Hunger Games hype. XD
