Watch out fandom! Shiro Cosmetics has just released a brand new collection.
A collection inspired by Joss Whedon’s wildly popular Avengers movie, which features Robert Downey Jr. being witty, and also has some other people doing stuff!
The full collection is made up of ten eyeshadows, a finishing powder, and a lipgloss. The inspirations for the eyeshadows are a little more straightforward than Shiro's past offerings but as we expect from the company, the shades are spot on.

As a set, the eyeshadows lean much more muted than some of Shiro's older, more vibrant sets. They're very everyday wearable as a result.

Individual swatches after the jump!

I want to thank Kristin for providing her amazing swatch photos - this post couldn't have gone up nearly as quickly without her kind assistance!

From the website: “Was that the point of all this? A statement?”

“A promise.”

Deep brown-black with blue duochrome. Lip-safe!

Ingredients: mica, carnauba wax, titanium dioxide, iron oxide, tin oxide.

Personal Comments: In shade, this looks like a pretty unassuming soft black with a hint of navy at the edges. In sunlight, lovely cornflower blue glitter pops out! Applied over Urban Decay Primer Potion and Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy. This picture was taken outside in natural light.

From the website: Is not this simpler? Is this not your natural state? It’s the unspoken truth of humanity, that you crave subjugation. The bright lure of freedom diminishes your life’s joy in a mad scramble for power, for identity. You were made to be ruled.

In the end, you will always kneel.

Blackened semi-metallic olive-gold. Not lip-safe.

Ingredients: mica, carnauba wax, titanium dioxide, iron oxide, tin oxide, chromium oxide, ferric ferrocyanide.

Personal Comments: This looks to me like a ton of olive gold glitter over a dark charcoal base. I believe you'd need to pack this on a bit more than usual to get the effect to show up in the shade - it gets much more muted when it's not in direct sunlight. Applied over Urban Decay Primer Potion and Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy. This picture was taken outside in natural light.

From the website: “… I hit you really hard in the head.”

“Thanks.”

Medium burgundy with a strong blue shift. Lip-safe!

Ingredients: mica, carnauba wax, titanium dioxide, iron oxide, tin oxide.

Personal Comments: This is a beautiful medium purple with a blue shift that seems to glow under direct sunlight. Thought it's not described as a matte, it went on a little oddly over a sticky base (I used Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy) but looked excellent and smooth over a silicone base (I used Urban Decay Primer Potion). This could be a very fun, very dramatic lip color! Applied over Urban Decay Primer Potion and Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy. This picture was taken outside in natural light.

From the website: What’s your secret? Mellow jazz? Bongo drums? Huge bag of weed?

Matte Hulk green with a purple shift. Not lip-safe.

Ingredients: mica, carnauba wax, titanium dioxide, iron oxide, tin oxide, chromium oxide.

Personal Comments: This is a lovely matte grass green with a bunch of purple sparkles. As you might expect with mattes, this one went on a little patchy over a sticky base (I used Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy) but applied perfectly over a silicone base (I used Urban Decay Primer Potion). Applied over Urban Decay Primer Potion and Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy. This picture was taken outside in natural light.

From the website: Realistically, The Avengers could have just been called “Tony Snark: The Movie,” and that would have been just as accurate. Not that anyone is complaining.

Metallic copper-tinted gold with a subtle red shift. Twelve percent inspired by Pepper Potts. Lip-safe!

Ingredients: mica, carnauba wax, titanium dioxide, iron oxide, tin oxide.

Personal Comments: To my eyes, this is Creamsicle orange with copper, gold, and pink sparkles! In shade it's got a light metallic shine, but it's quite glittery in direct sunlight. Applied over Urban Decay Primer Potion and Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy. This picture was taken outside in natural light.

From the website: “This usually works…”

“Well, performance issues, it’s not uncommon.”

Muted Tesseract blue with strong golden duochrome. Not lip-safe.

Ingredients: mica, carnauba wax, titanium dioxide, iron oxide, tin oxide, ultramarine blue.

Personal Comments: I absolutely love shades like this - I'm a sucker for a strong golden duochrome on pretty much any base shade. To me the base shade looks like a pastel blue mixed with a bit of gray. The duochrome is a very yellow gold, and is pronounced enough that in direct sunlight you almost can't tell whether the gold or the blue is the base color. In shade the overlay is more muted in color and effect but still quite visible. Applied over Urban Decay Primer Potion and Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy. This picture was taken outside in natural light.

From the website: Doth Mother know you weareth her drapes?

Silvery pewter with complex red tones, very difficult to photograph. Lip-safe!

Ingredients: mica, carnauba wax, titanium dioxide, iron oxide, tin oxide.

Personal Comments: This is another excellent shade. My polish is all packed up from moving so I can't confirm in person, but this reminds me a lot of the China Glaze nail polish shade "I'm Not Lion". It's astoundingly glittery, with a mix of pink-purple and green sparkles among the base tones. It looks like a warm pewter base to me up close, but when my boyfriend examined it from several feet away, he said it actually looked lavender or mauve to him. Regardless of the base color, this looks metallic in the shade (or indoors) and reveals a gorgeous explosion of glitter in direct sunlight. Applied over Urban Decay Primer Potion and Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy. This picture was taken outside in natural light.

From the website: I gotta say, it’s an honor to meet you, officially. I sort of met you, I mean, I watched you while you were sleeping.

I mean, I was… I was present while you were unconscious from the ice…

Deep patriotic blue with red duochrome and subtle white sparkles. Not lip-safe.

Ingredients: mica, carnauba wax, titanium dioxide, iron oxide, tin oxide, ultramarine blue, calcium aluminum borosilicate, copper powder, silicon dioxide.

Personal Comments: A lovely, strong duochrome! Dare I say this is very reminiscent of Fyrinnae's legendary Mephisto? It's a deep navy blue with a gorgeous red-copper duochrome that comes out strong over a sticky base. It's also got a bunch of white sparkles to add to the patriotic theme. Applied over Urban Decay Primer Potion and Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy. This picture was taken outside in natural light.

From the website: If you fail, if the Tesseract is kept from us, there will be no realm, no barren moon, no crevice where he can not find you. You think you know pain?

Dusky twilight indigo with subtle purple duochrome. Not lip-safe.

Ingredients: mica, carnauba wax, titanium dioxide, iron oxide, tin oxide, ultramarine blue.

Personal Comments: This is a gorgeous shade that practically glows even in dim light. To my eyes, it's a medium blue with a strong lavender overlay. I think this is a more unique shade and I really like it! Applied over Urban Decay Primer Potion and Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy. This picture was taken outside in natural light.

From the website: Thought we wouldn’t notice. But we did.

Pure black with loads of fine rainbow glitter. Lip-safe!*

*I do not recommend ordering this as a custom gloss, as the black completely overpowers the sparkles when combined with our gloss base. It’s very sad.

Ingredients: mica, carnauba wax, titanium dioxide, iron oxide, tin oxide, calcium aluminum borisilicate, silicon dioxide.

Personal Comments: The shop description is true to what I see in this shade. The rainbow glitter appears light blue, pink, and purple to my eyes. This shade reminds me a lot of another Shiro shade, Gift of Mercy, which you can check out in our Seven Kingdoms Collection Spotlight. Applied over Urban Decay Primer Potion and Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy. This picture was taken outside in natural light.

From the website: For when you just want to SMASH, while keeping your complexion flawless! Translucent green-tinted powder helps counter the appearance of redness caused by sunburn, rosacea, uncontrollable mindless fury, et cetera.

This powder is suitable for all skin types, but recommended only for use on reddened areas. Includes silica for diminishing fine lines and imperfections, and rice powder and kaolin clay for oil absorption. Do not use on lips.

Ingredients: serecite mica, rice powder, kaolin clay, silica, chromium oxide, iron oxide.

Personal Comments: This is a really cute creative touch from the Shiro team - a green finishing powder inspired by the Hulk! The formula is beautiful, which isn't surprising given the good reviews I've read about the brand's "normal" finishing powder. It's downright silky on - even on my dry skin, I can feel the difference between skin where I've applied it and bare skin, and it doesn't look powdery at all.

Let's talk about the color, which is intended to cancel out redness. For reference, I am quite pale with warm (yellow) undertones, roughly NC15 in MAC and Sleek Korat in Meow foundation. My skin is very dry and has a lot of natural redness, including red undereye circles, a few red pimples, and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Needless to say, I was excited to try this product! I tested it on half of my face with no other products to get a sense of what it did on its own. It did seem to help neutralize some of the inherent redness in my cheeks, but didn't seem to do much for my undereye circles and red pimple. I dusted the powder over the rest of that half of my face as well just to see what happened, and as you'd imagine, I looked a little green. I was kiiiiind of able to blend down the green color in places where I overapplied it, but I think using a light hand only in red areas is the best method here.

I'm undecided on this product. I'd like to test it more in conjunction with my normal foundation routine. What I do know, though, is I will definitely be picking up a sample of the brand's white finishing powder. If the formula is just as good as Always Angry, it'll be a jar purchase for sure!

Kristin adds: I agree with AG. Usually green tinted products are a brighter green shade so that it not only cancels out redness but also has a brightening effect (since the red shade is also probably a bit darker than your normal skin tone). I thought that this finishing powder did a good job at canceling redness but the grey in the powder made the areas much darker and was difficult to blend out. This would probably be best for people with very slight redness and when applied with a very light hand.

From the website: Your world in the balance, and you bargain for one man…

Blackened mulberry, a slightly darker take on our old Team Buffy color.
Flavored with deep fruity black walnut, but also available unflavored for those with allergy concerns!

Ingredients: hydrogenated polyisobutene, ethylene/propylene/styrene copolymer, butylene/ethylene/styrene copolymer, meadowfoam seed oil, cocoa butter, iron oxide, red 27, castor oil, vitamin E, flavor.

Personal Comments: Ah, this one is for the vampy lip lovers! Shiro describes it as blackened mulberry, but to me, it's got a strong brown base which gives it more of a dried blood color. I can definitely see the purple tones peeking out in the thicker swatches, though. I'm showing it both sheered out and built up as much as possible in the swatch collage because it's got great versatility. You can wear it sheer to darken the lips, or you can layer it on for a full-on dark statement lip. If you're a pale person who loves the idea of a black lip but you fear it might be too harsh for your skin tone, this gloss may well meet your needs.

I want to note that it was a little difficult for me to get a consistent opacity across my lips, but I strongly suspect this is because I was working with a sample container and a brush rather than a standard doefoot gloss applicator. If you purchased a full size, let me know how it applies in the comments!
