Hey everyone! New Detrivore shades are always worth celebrating in my book, so I'm excited to show you the Krampus Collection. Inspired by a rather horrifying demon-type character from German folklore, this collection manages to squeeze a pretty good variety of colors and finishes into just four jars. The website doesn't actually say where the label art came from, but it's very cool. Here's what the site has to say about the collection:
We hope you enjoy the first of our mini Shiro/Detrivore collaborations! Dreamed up by Lauren, created by Distorria, and inspired by Krampus.
As a quick disclosure note, these were a very kind gift from Caitlin. She described them as a thank you gift for coming to meet her at Crafty Wonderland, but since she certainly knew I'd blog about them, they likely fall under the press sample category as well.

From the website: Vegan, Lip Safe

Fully matte, opaque pure white.

Ingredients: serecite mica, titanium dioxide, magnesium myristrate.

Personal Comments: I gave Krampuskarten the side eye when it arrived because Detrivore White Chapel (another white shade) didn't work so well for me. I'm pleased to report Krampuskarten is much better! It is indeed matte pure white; I'm not seeing any obvious undertones one way or another. However, I'm not convinced it's fully opaque on its own. I don't often have need of a truly opaque white so I will happily use this as a soft lid color or to blend out edges of other shadows. This shade will never kick you in the face with pigment, but to get it as opaque as possible, I'd recommend packing it over a matte-friendly tacky base (like a jumbo eye pencil). By the way - all my macro shots (lower right on the collage) took on an excitingly inexplicable blue glow, so I recommend relying on the standard swatch (lower left on the collage) for the most color accuracy.

Matte desaturated pine green.

Ingredients: serecite mica, iron oxide, ultramarines, ferric ferrocyanide.

Personal Comments: This is a gorgeous, desaturated green. It's pretty close to a matte version of the now-discontinued Oogie Boogie (review here), so if you missed out on Shiro's Nightmare Before Christmas collection, this color might help fill the monster-shaped hole in your heart. As with almost all Detrivore shadows, this one applies and blends beautifully.

Warm coppery gold with subtle yellow sparkle.

Ingredients: serecite mica, titanium dioxide, iron oxide, tin oxide, bronze powder, silicon dioxide.

Personal Comments: This is a gorgeous yellow gold, emphasis on yellow. The sparkle mentioned in the description translates to a lovely, soft sheen. This shade is bright without being loud, if that makes sense. I've been enjoying using it as a lid shade over a sticky base. I do want to mention I notice some fallout when using this shade, so be prepared to clean up a bit.

Deep metallic hollyberry red.

Ingredients: mica, titanium dioxide, iron oxide, tin oxide, copper powder, silicon dioxide.

Personal Comments: Between this and Sanguine Addiction (reviewed here), I'm realizing I have a serious weakness for Distorria's reds. Krampusnacht is beautifully versatile because it blends out to a matte finish, but takes on a softly metallic finish over a sticky base. "Hollyberry" is a really charming way to describe this shade, though I think it's a little darker than actual holly fruit.

Despite the natural lighting, my swatches don't show off the finishes on Krampus Schnapps and Krampusnacht as well as they could. I stuck my arm under daylight bulbs for a better look at them:

From left to right: Detrivore Krampus Schnapps and Krampusnacht under daylight bulb lighting

As you can see, Krampus Schnapps takes on a soft sheen (kind of a satin finish?) and Krampusnacht is lightly metallic.

I did a quick eye look with Krampuslaufen and Krampus Schnapps:

I had to take these photos in indoor lighting because the sun has been setting so darn early, so Krampuslaufen's gorgeous murky green isn't showing through as well here as I'd like. Trust me when I say it looked great sandwiched between the yellow gold and medium brown shades! The dirty green and brown combination in particular made this feel almost like a grunge look, which was really fun.

Here's how I achieved the look:

1. I primed my eyelid and lower lashline with Urban Decay Primer Potion.

2. After giving the primer a moment to set, I lay down a layer of Detrivore Ossuary, since it's matte and pretty close to my skin tone. This step helps with blending.

3. I put Blackbird Cosmetics Beau, a matte medium brown, through the high portion of my crease. (Side note - I owe you guys a Blackbird swatch and review, Maleah's mattes are excellent!)

4. I blended Detrivore Krampuslaufen through my crease, below the matte brown. I took a bit of it under the outer third or so of my lower lashline as well.

5. I applied Detrivore Krampus Schnapps across my mobile lid. Then I patted on some Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy, let it set, and added more Krampus Schnapps on top to pull out the sheen.

6. Believe it or not, I tried adding a light layer of Krampuskarten as an inner corner highlight... yeah, I couldn't really see it in person either. In its defense I didn't have any kind of primer or base in my inner corner, and I didn't exactly pack the shadow on, but that should give you an idea that it needs a bit of assistance to perform well.

7. I wrapped up the look by cleaning up fallout from Krampus Schnapps, concealing my undereye circles, tightlining my upper lashline with black liner, applying mascara, and running a bit of brow pencil through my brows.

So there's the collection! Do any of these shades look appealing to you? Did Krampus leave anything horrifying in your stocking this year?
