Filling in your brows gives your look a surprisingly big boost!

It's a bit of a double-edged sword when you encounter a new product you never thought you needed before, only to have it become a MVP within your daily lineup. On the plus side, hooray! A new product to make your life/face-of-the-day/whathaveyou look even better, but on the other hand it might feel like a drag to have yet another item to apply and purchase.

Silk Naturals Brow Cream
Full size: 2 gram jar for $6.50 USD
Sample size: dinky q-tip nub for $0.99 USD

Brow Cream is a creamy version of our brow powders. They're super easy to use, and provide sparse brows with a bit of needed color, and a little bit of conditioning from the natural oils.

Eyebrows really aren't an area I think about too much when it comes to daily makeup. My routine is pretty minimal to begin with, and I like to wear just enough to "tidy up" and look put-together. So the last thing I'd want is *another* product to slap on in the morning to clutter up my routine. But Silk Naturals has opened my eyes (and raised my brows) to the magic that is brow cream, and now there's no turning back!

Everyone's eyebrow "problems" are different. Some people have such fair, light hair that their eyebrows appear invisible. Others have unbalanced brows ("sisters, not twins" I've heard people say). Mine grow thick, wiry and very dark, and I feel I'm constantly waging war with them! If I let them grow too long they get shaggy, but sometimes trimming them back creates sparse areas that look awkwardly bare.  So what's a brow'd beauty to do?

Some people are already pros when it comes to brow creams and liners. The Anastasia dipbrow pomade is massively popular, but it's also pretty expensive ($18USD for a .14oz jar).  When I first started reading up on ways to tame my brows, I initially thought maybe a bit vaseline would do the trick (spoiler: it didn't), but I kept seeing people talking about dipbrow. I also kept reading complaints that you'd have to exercise a very restrained, light-handed touch when applying unless you want to look like Wario

I have a bit of obsession with Silk Naturals, and typically when I have some sort of beauty-related dilemma I turn there first. I remembered receiving a little brow cream sample "nub" in the past - it was pretty much just the end of a q-tip with a glob of product tucked into a little plastic baggie. I used it as an eyeliner at the time though, since I figured my brows were so dark, why even think about trying that? It took a bit of trial and error though because the color you think you need might not necessarily be the color that's a good fit for your brows. I initially grabbed "medium brown" because the swatches looked like a perfect fit, but it wound up being too warm and yellowy for my brows. Even my final selection, "medium ash" is STILL a hair (har har) too warm, but it's close enough for me. Still, I highly suggest snagging samples first and do not rely on swatches!

The concept is simple enough. Just like a cream eyeliner, you take a stiff brush, swirl it around the product in the jar, and gently brush it onto your brows. I like to use the brow cream to define the shape better and fill in those few sparse areas. I was really stunned at how much "cleaner" my overall look was once I started filling in my brows. It was a big game-changer for me! The other highlight was that it keeps my longer, unruly brows tidily swept away, so I guess it really is like a mini "pomade" product.

The jar is really simple and easy to use, and at $6.50 for 2 grams, that works out to about $13 for 4 grams, roughly the same amount that comes in the Anastasia dipbrow jar. Do you even really need 4 grams though? This jar feels like it will last forever! I have no firsthand experience with the Anastasia dipbrow, but from what I've read it seems very soft and easy to use too much. With the Silk Naturals brow cream, I find the opposite is true - I have to be a bit aggressive with my brush to get enough for me to comfortably use. Perhaps I'm too heavy-handed, or maybe my needs are more immediate given my thicker, darker brows. Still, all the more reason to try the sample size first!

Best of all, I really love the ingredients in the brow cream. I find my brows feel more conditioned and softer, and I am also noticing less breakage. Would I have experienced similar results if I stuck with vaseline and conditioned them instead? Probably, but they wouldn't have looked half as fabulous.

Even at the end of a long day, Silk Naturals brow cream holds up pretty well!
