Nerdvana Collection
The Big Bang Theory (the show on CBS not the universal event) used to be a huge guilty pleasure of mine. Yes, they repeat the same jokes over and over and yes, it's horrendously stereotyped but on days when you don't want to have to think to be entertained, it's pretty great. When I found out that Darling Girl Cosmetics had a collection themed around the show, I knew I had to get it.

Warning, this post will be very picture heavy!

The Nerdvana collection has 12 shades and the individual shade pictures will be divided into 2 posts.

Nerdvana Swatches Set 1
Nerdvana Swatches Set 2

As you can see, Nerdvana definitely has a nice assortment of bold eyeshadows but there are a few very wearable neutrals mixed in for those days when you don't want to rock the Prenatal Cigarettes pink. These are mostly glitter friendly shades but a couple (mainly the neutrals) are more shimmer than glittery.

Some of the names are a bit of a stretch to the imagination, even for people familiar with the show, but Darling Girl posts the quote that the name is drawn from on the listings for each individual shade. Some are pretty funny and others are more hilarious than that (I almost died when looking up "Gerard").

Most of the shadows are very what-you-see-is-what-you-get with the notable exception of Gerard which has a subtle pink shimmer in the right light.

Now onto individual shades!

DGC Nerdvana Alright ma

From the website: Love-able but slightly garish blue based purple with color shifting glitter, shifting from red, orange to yellow in certain lights.

Eye Shadow Ingredients: Mica, Carnauba Wax, Nylon-12, Titanium Dioxide, Tin Oxide, Synthetic Fluorophylogopite, Silica, Carmine and Ferric Ferrocyanide

NOT Lip Safe.

Personal Comments: The purple is much stronger than the blue undertones here but you can still tell that it's a cool shaded purple. Plenty of glitter here. Applied over Urban Decay Primer Potion and Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy. This picture was taken inside under a daylight bulb.

DGC Nerdvana Bazinga

From the website: a more wearable gold with red undertones and subtle pink sparkles.

Eye Shadow Ingredients: Mica, Carnauba Wax, Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxide, Bronze Powder, Silica, Synthetic Fluorophylogopite and Tin Oxide.

Personal Comments: I did not accidentally hit the caps-lock key on this one. The name really is in all caps. BAZINGA is a very vivid gold and reminds me of a lighting strike. Very fitting since Sheldon (the namesake) often wears his t-shirt with the logo of the Flash. Applied over Urban Decay Primer Potion and Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy. This picture was taken inside under a daylight bulb.

DGC Nerdvana Gerard

From the website: Pale peachy pink with soft metallic silver undertones.

Eye Shadow Ingredients: Mica, Carnauba, Titanium Dioxide, Aluminum Powder, Silicon Dioxide, Iron Oxide, Synthetic Fluorophylogopite, Silica and Tin Oxide.

Personal Comments: This is my favorite shade of the collection. A sheer-er shade than the others, this sandy color has the most beautiful pink shifts to it. It's also a shimmer shade rather than a glitter shade. Applied over Urban Decay Primer Potion and Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy. This picture was taken inside under a daylight bulb. By the way, Gerard is an electric toothbrush. And that's all I'm saying.

DGC Nerdvana Grasshopper

From the website: Vibrant leaf green with golden undertones.

Eye Shadow Ingredients: Mica, Carnauba Wax, Nylon-12, Chromium Oxide Green, CI 19140 Yellow #5 FD&C lake CAS 12225-21-7,Iron Oxide(s), Titanium Dioxide and Tin Oxide

NOT Lip Safe.

Personal Comments: Named after the mint-flavored drink and not the insect! Grasshopper is a bright green that just barely touches the edges of almost neon. Applied over Urban Decay Primer Potion and Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy. This picture was taken inside under a daylight bulb.

DGC Nerdvana Knock Knock Penny

From the website: Slightly earthy orange with blue/green shift.

Eye Shadow Ingredients: Mica, Carnauba Wax, Titanium Dioxide, Tin Oxide, Silica, Iron Oxide, FD&C Red #40, ,CI 19140 Yellow #5 FD&C lake CAS 12225-21-7

Personal Comments:  Penny is a blonde girl so this naming convention doesn't really make any sense to me but I do really like the color anyway. This is another very glittery shade and the silver/gold glitter gives a nice contrast to the tiger orange. Applied over Urban Decay Primer Potion and Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy. This picture was taken inside under a daylight bulb.

DGC Nerdvana Lizard Spock>

I'm not sure why but Lizard Spock isn't listed on the website anymore!

Personal Comments: This shade reminds me of Philosoraptor. Probably because that's my most common exposure to any reptile. This shade was really well done. The gold glitter breaks up the green to give it the appearance of being almost scaly. Applied over Urban Decay Primer Potion and Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy. This picture was taken inside under a daylight bulb.
