Silk Naturals Naked 3 Dupe Palette
Silk Naturals continues their long-standing tradition of cloning the Naked palettes

Urban Decay's Naked 3 palette was a huge hit this holiday season. And rightly so! It's an absolutely lovely collection of rosy nudes with a mix of shimmery, sparkly, and matte. But maybe you can't wear their eyeshadows because your skin is irritated by certain ingredients. Perhaps having vegan and cruelty-free cosmetics is something really important to you. Or you're like me and can't justify dropping $50 on a palette. So what do you do?

Silk Naturals - Naked 3 Dupe ("Bare Necessities Set 3")

Even if none of those reasons apply to you, the concept of "dupes" - when another company releases certain products and/or colors to match already existing products - probably isn't new to you, and it was only a matter of time before someone duped Naked 3. That someone is Silk Naturals, and they managed to put out their own Naked 3 clone pretty quickly - Naked 3 released in the US on November 21st, 2013, and the Silk Naturals "Bare Necessities Set 3" came out on December 10th, not even a month after Urban Decay.

The plummy, pinky, taupy, coppery, golden tones in this palette make it so versatile, and romantic.  It's great for the office, great for dressing up, and it's just super pretty.  It's a must for girls with blue, or green eyes- they just make your natural color pop!
Compare our Bare Necessities Palette to the Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette.  They're every bit as gorgeous but with more pigment, no talc, bismuth oxychloride or preservatives.  They're also Vegan and cruelty free.  Typical pressed shadows contain up to 20% fillers and binders.  Silk Natural's loose shadows are packed with pigment and blend beautifully
The entire kit is Vegan, and Gluten Free.  Each 5-gram jar contains approximately 3/4 teaspoon of product.

While the "temporary" freebies have passed (ended December 20th), I still feel that the Silk Naturals Bare Necessities Set 3 (which I am just going to call "Naked 3 Dupe" from henceforth because it's not nearly as big a mouthful) is the clear winner in value, even if you don't take quality into consideration. Sure, you don't get the brush or the primer samples, and yes - you receive jars with loose powder, so it's not as travel-friendly, but I still feel it's definitely a great bang for your buck. Plus, if there are only a few colors you find yourself using more than others, you can mix and match and buy individual replacement jars instead of the entire set.

This is where my comparisons between Silk Naturals's Naked 3 Dupe and the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette pretty much end. I don't own the Naked 3 palette (because why would I when the SN palette is such a great deal?!), so I can't do a direct side-by-side comparison of each color. I'd rather shift the focus to its own merits because I feel while it might not be a picture-perfect, non-discernible dupe, it can definitely hold its own and the quality is excellent.

Silk Naturals Naked 3 Dupe Swatches

Urban Decay Strange Naked 3 Dupe Silk Naturals Cache

Cache is a very very light, almost white pink with a nearly matte satiny finish.
Cache is so close to my own skintone that it's tricky for me to swatch and photograph. It's a really lovely base color though, and the satiny finish prevents it from being a pure matte. It's the quintessential base color for any collection. Cache is a dupe for Urban Decay's "Strange."

Urban Decay Dust Naked 3 Dupe Silk Naturals Status
Status is a light, slightly warm shimmery metallic pink.
Status doesn't get a lot of use in my collection because I find it to be a bit too shimmery-shiny for my tastes. I often find myself regretting the decision to put it on because it looks so sparkly on me! However, from what I've read, many people complain about the crazy glittery fallout from Urban Decay's "Dust" - Status has zero fallout. Status is a dupe for Urban Decay's "Dust."

Urban Decay Burnout Naked 3 Dupe Silk Naturals Tweak
Tweak is a light satiny rose with just a little bit of peach. It's a lovely one-color wash, great on the lid, and it just makes you look perky and alive.
Tweak is such a gorgeous color! Goodness knows I have so many "rosy peach pearl" colors in my collection already, but Tweak is one of my favorites. I think it runs a wee bit warmer than Urban Decay's "Burnout", but I prefer it that way. Tweak is a dupe for Urban Decay's "Burnout."

Urban Decay Limit Naked 3 Dupe Silk Naturals Analog
Analog is a silky smooth dusty rose matte.  It's a fantastic lid color.
I really love using Analog as my crease color. I often struggle with blending mattes, but I always feel like some fancypants eyeshadow pro when I'm apply Analog because it's so buttery and smooth. Analog is a dupe for Urban Decay's "Limit."

Urban Decay Buzz Naked 3 Dupe Silk Naturals Impact
Impact is a warm rose metallic tone with a silky satin finish.
Eek! Impact is so gorgeous! It's a really lovely shimmery rose and super smooth. Even though my own skin tone is cool, I don't feel Impact is too warm for me. Impact is a dupe for Urban Decay's "Buzz."

Urban Decay Trick Naked 3 Dupe Silk Naturals Torrent
Torrent is a pinkish golden copper with a satiny metallic finish.
I think Torrent is the perfect rose gold. It's a bit more gold and less rose, but awfully lovely and smooth. I find it pairs really nicely with a little bit of Impact in the outer corner. Torrent is a dupe for Urban Decay's "Trick."

Urban Decay Nooner Naked 3 Dupe Silk Naturals Parallel
Parallel is a medium-deep pinky brown matte.
Parallel is kind of like Analog's darker sibling. My swatch is a bit on the light side, and it does run a bit darker than this. It's just as soft and easy to apply as Analog too! Parallel is a dupe for Urban Decay's "Nooner."

Urban Decay Liar Naked 3 Dupe Silk Naturals Virtual
Virtual is a deeper mauvish brown- meaning it's brown with some plum undertones and a few pink highlights.
I find Virtual far more brown and less mauve on my skin. I do wish it was a smidge less shimmery. I like using it in combination with Tweak. Virtual is a dupe for Urban Decay's "Liar."

Urban Decay Factory Naked 3 Dupe Silk Naturals Drive
Drive is a toned down shimmery brown with rosy plum undertones, and a little bit of a golden copper highlight.
Drive is such a lovely brown. It has quickly become one of my favorite browns in my whole collection. I find it to be tremendously versatile and gets lots of wear time. Drive is a dupe for Urban Decay's "Factory."

Urban Decay Mugshot Naked 3 Dupe Silk Naturals History
History is a shimmery (albeit toned down a little) metallic taupe with a little bit of a red undertone.  It's soooo pretty- even if you have a taupe fetish, this is a great one to add to your collection.
I don't have many taupes in my collection (I lean more towards pinky-creamy-peachy colors), but there are lots of people out there who have a different taupe for each day of the week. As far as taupes go, History is top-notch. There's just enough shimmer to keep it fun, and it blends like a dream. History is a dupe for Urban Decay's "Mugshot."

Urban Decay Darkside Naked 3 Dupe Silk Naturals Link
Link is a deep taupe suede with just a hint of shimmer.
Every time I use Link I think of the Legend of Zelda! The suede finish of Link is what makes it one of my favorites in the Silk Naturals Naked 3 dupe. It pairs pretty perfectly with every single color in this collection. Link is a dupe for Urban Decay's "Darkside."

Urban Decay Blackheart Naked 3 Dupe Silk Naturals Portal
Portal is a dark slightly brownish black with coppery red sparkle.  You're going to want some Stick 'Em underneath this color, but it's lovely, and super fun as a liner.  This is darker, less brown, and somewhat less shimmery than our color Demon
I'd have to say that Portal is probably the least-used color out of the whole set for me. I find it a bit difficult to work with because it seems like a soft, nearly-black matte with some sparkle. I have trouble blending it, but I suspect that's mostly out of my own incompetence. Portal is a dupe for Urban Decay's "Blackheart."

Bonus Freebies

Swatches for Silk Naturals's Icon Slick Stick and NaNaNaNa Boo Boo vegan lipstick
Lip product swatches
In addition to a free GWP with any $35+ purchase (and since this is $39.99, you instantly qualify!), Silk Naturals also gave away a free lip product and eyeshadow primer (which I did not show in my top photo). The Silk Naturals Stick Em' Enhancer is a sticky eyeshadow primer that probably deserves its own post at some point.

When I placed my order, I received two lip products: a vegan lipstick and a "Slick Stick" (an alternate to their Amplifying Lip Glazes sans minty plumper). Both were special freebies and are not available for purchase on the site. However, it's not uncommon for really popular GWPs to become staples in the product catalog if enough people love them.

Comparison between Silk Naturals's Icon Slick Stick and NaNaNaNa Boo Boo vegan lipstickNaNaNaNa Boo Boo (yes, it seriously is named that) is a really lovely sheer wash of slightly plummy pink. It runs on the cool side, which I really love. I actually find it to be very similar to a GWP back over the summer called "Freedom" but without the shimmery sparkles. NaNaNaNa Boo Boo is so well-liked that it is now available as a permanent catalog item introduced in the Valentine's Day 2014 collection and its formula has been changed to the "Black Label" lip gloss.

Icon supposedly began as a clone of a discontinued Silk Naturals lip gloss called "Hey Baby" - a sheer nude tan.  However, Icon is definitely more on the pinky-tan side. It's a really lovely, versatile color, although I do wish it was a shade darker. It also has been added to the collection as part of the Valentine's Day 2014 set.

Final Verdict

So if you've made it this far, it's obvious that I'm a huge fan of this palette and Silk Naturals in general. However, if the Naked 3 palette isn't your cup of tea, they've also duped several other Urban Decay palettes, enough to warrant its own link on the sidebar.

From price to ingredient quality, buying the Silk Naturals Naked 3 dupe was a no-brainer for me. This palette has been the only thing I've been using since I purchased it, and I highly recommend it!
