Hi everyone! We learned some big news about Detrivore Cosmetics today and we'd like to share it with you here.

First, a bit of history. For some time now, Detrivore Cosmetics has been having trouble shipping orders within their stated turnaround time. Owner Distorria has been fairly open about a number of health problems that have made it difficult for her to process orders in a timely manner. Though the company originally became known for its excellent product quality, especially a stellar matte formula, consumers' frustration has been clearly building in the past half a year (or more) due to months-long turnaround and other concerns.

On January 13, 2014, Distorria posted a personal update and request for help on the Detrivore Facebook page. She described how a series of traumatic events in quick succession had left her in imminent danger of becoming homeless. It seemed likely that Detrivore would be closing down, possibly permanently.

On January 31, 2014, Caitlin of Shiro Cosmetics made an announcement on reddit.com/r/indiemakeupandmore. We will repost the announcement here in its entirety:
Hello, all - Caitlin from Shiro here!
As I'm sure many of you know, Distorria of Detrivore Cosmetics has been struggling to maintain her storefront for the past several months. Her passion and creativity lends itself to truly remarkable colors and products - in particular, she makes some of the best mattes around, and her embalming tubes are my all-time favorite lip balm. However, a string of personal problems in the last few months has severely affected her ability to send orders out within an expected timeframe.
I've worked out a deal with Distorria that I believe will be to everyone's benefit: I've purchased exclusive distribution rights to her products. Over the next week or so, I'll personally be filling and shipping all orders which are still open from the Detrivore website. I have a new website launching sometime in late February if all goes well, and when this new site goes live, there will be a catalog page dedicated to a selection of Detrivore's best products. Distorria will be able to continue the creative process she loves so much and may release new items through my site when she chooses. From there, the entire distribution process will be completely handled by the Shiro team, and will be subject to the exact same reliability and customer service standards that we enforce for our own brand.
I'll be off and on today (very busy prepping things for tomorrow's launch), but if you have any questions or concerns that I can address, please feel free to leave a comment! I'll answer as promptly as I can. :)

(Note: Caitlin kindly answered questions and provided more information in the comments section, posting as /u/Geekery.)

In brief, Shiro Cosmetics has purchased the exclusive distribution rights for Detrivore Cosmetics products. Distorria will remain involved in the creative process, but products will be packaged and shipped by the Shiro Cosmetics team. Distorria has made her recipes, supplies, and suppliers available to the Shiro team, who will step in to make more product whenever Distorria is unable to do so. When the transition is finalized, you will be able to purchase a limited (for now) selection of Detrivore's most popular products through the Shiro Cosmetics website, using their checkout system and with the understanding that products will be sent out according to Shiro's stated turnaround time.

The Indie Know team believes this is an excellent solution for everyone involved. We applaud Caitlin and her team for demonstrating the camaraderie which draws so many people to the indie community. We wish the team a smooth and successful transition. We are keeping Distorria in our thoughts, and we wish her health, happiness, and a roof over her head.
