I love it when indies branch out into different kinds of cosmetics! Darling Girl Cosmetics is great about producing a nice variety of non-eyeshadow products. Today I'd like to show you their Sweet Cheeks Cream Blushes.

From the website:
I find cream blushes work really well with acne-prone skin in that they are more forgiving on any healing blemishes, whereas powdered blushes seem like they cake around any kind of patchiness. Cream blushes are great if you have dry skin or “mature” skin, as they don’t look chalky at all.
Tips for application: I do this with all cream blushes, but really find it helpful with mine. Use a fibre optic blush and stipple a small amount on the apples of your cheeks and blend. If you are very fair, use a second brush to blend and you will get a flawless natural flush to your cheeks.
Lip approved shades can be used as a lip tint as well, don't you love a multi-tasker?!
I picked up samples of all six shades and I was really impressed. From a heavy swatch, they all look a little scary but they blended out really well to be nice and sheer. They also applied smoothly with strong pigmentation and felt really good on the skin.

One thing that I'd like to point out is that all of the cream blushes contain Capric/Caprylic Triglyceride. According to Paula's Choice, Capric/Caprylic Triglyceride is derived from coconut oil and glycerin. Just something to be aware of if you know that you have skin sensitivities to these particular ingredients. As with all new products, patch testing is always a great idea.

Full sized blushes are $7.50 and come in a 5g flat compact. Samples are $1 and (I thought this was really cool) are half of a q-tip covered in blush. Sample Purchase Link. I was surprised to see that even after heavy swatching, the bud looked like I'd barely used any. They're definitely good for several applications.

Heavy Swatch on Left, Blended Out on Right
From the website: Light plummy pink with purple undertones.

Ingredients: Capric Caprylic Triglygeride, Mica, Candelilla Wax, Ozokerite Wax, Silicon Dioxide, Mica and Matricaria Recutita Extract. Also contains: Mica, Myristic Acid, Magnesium Hydroxide, Boron Nitride, Red #40, Ultramarines, Titanium Dioxide and Tin Oxide.

NOT Lip Approved.

Personal Comments: This is my absolute favorite of the six. I have a thing for darker, almost purple-toned blushes and this one hits just the right spot. It's a little patchy when applied heavily but I assume it's because it doesn't apply very well to itself. It was very smooth when blended out. Applied on bare skin. Heavy Swatch on Left, Blended Out on Right

From the website: Cherry popsicle red.

Ingredients: Capric Caprylic Triglygeride, Mica, Candelilla Wax, Ozokerite Wax, Silicon Dioxide, Mica and Matricaria Recutita Extract. Also contains:  Myristic Acid, Magnesium Hydroxide, Boron Nitride, CI 15850 Red Lake#7 (CAS# 5281-04-9), Titanium Dioxide and Tin Oxide.

NOT eye safe.

Personal Comments: A very bright, very bold red. Doll Cheeks is a perfect name for this color since the first thing it reminded me of was the bright red circles used on doll faces. Use a light hand with this one. Even when blended out, it's still very apparent. Applied on bare skin. This picture was taken outside in natural light.

Heavy Swatch on Left, Blended Out on Right

From the website: a creamy ivory with a light pearl sheen.

Ingredients: Capric Caprylic Triglygeride, Mica, Candelilla Wax, Ozokerite Wax, Silicon Dioxide, Mica and Matricaria Recutita Extract.  Also contains: Mica, Titanium Dioxide and Silica.

Personal Comments: I'm so glad that DGC included a cream highlighter! This color was just gorgeous and you can see in the blended out swatch that it leaves just the hint of a glow. Perfectly subtle. Applied on bare skin. This picture was taken outside in natural light.

Heavy Swatch on Left, Blended Out on Right

From the website: Juicy ripe papaya with red undertones.

Personal Comments: Another bright shade. Papaya is more pink than Doll Cheeks but still with the same vibrancy. However, it blends down much easier than Doll Cheeks and can be very wearable without much effort. Applied on bare skin. This picture was taken outside in natural light.
