Haus of Gloi
Rose City

This is one of those posts I warned you would be coming. I have made far more purchases from Haus of Gloi than products I have reviewed. I tend to get out of hand when I order things. Rose City has been a standout for me. I started with just a sample, fell desperately in love, and had to buy more. I’ve held myself to just a body emulsion and a full size perfume bottle due to an awful incident involving car sickness and a different rose perfume. But it has not tarnished my love for this particular rose scent. Let me tell you why it’s perfect.

For you nonbelievers and those who have spent too much time smelling department store rose perfumes, let me tell you, this is nothing like those. Inspired by Portland, this scent is nothing but fresh roses and patchouli, and it blends beautifully. It is the freshest rose scent I have ever smelled: it smells just like the rose bushes I grew up with in my backyard, nothing fake or artificial in this scent. The patchouli just helps clarify and strengthen the scent, giving it a longevity that lasts me all day. And when the lotion gets all over my sheets, all the better for me. I can smell that perfect scent for days to come.

And for those who think rose is too heady? I’ve worn this around AG several times (she is not a big rose scent fan), and every time she tells me how amazing I smell, saying it’s almost earthy and woody. This is the rose scent you would give someone who loves the true scent of flowers. It was a bit of a gateway drug for me, opening rose scents up in another companies and forms, but I have yet to find a rose scent that is as true or as wonderful as this one.

I would never claim that if you hate florals, you will suddenly and mysteriously love this one. But if you love the scent of rose petals strewn around, this will definitely beguile you.
